Off-Label Use Disclosure
Several treatments offered through XPand MD involve the off-label use of FDA-approved products. This disclosure is important for informed decision-making.
What “off-label” means
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves drugs and medical devices for specific, defined uses. When a physician uses an FDA-approved product for a purpose, population, or treatment site not included in the original FDA approval, that is considered “off-label” use. Off-label use is legal, common in medicine, and frequently supported by clinical evidence and physician experience. It is not experimental per se, but it does mean the FDA has not formally reviewed and approved that specific application.
The following XPand MD services involve off-label applications of FDA-approved products:
XPand Volume™ — penile filler
Hyaluronic acid dermal filler is FDA-approved for facial augmentation. Its application for penile girth enhancement is an off-label use.
XPand Restore™ — platelet-rich plasma therapy for penile rejuvenation
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is FDA-cleared for certain uses. Its application for penile tissue health and rejuvenation is an off-label use.
XPand Smooth™ — scrotal neuromodulator therapy (Scrotox)
Botulinum toxin is FDA-approved for specific muscle and gland applications. Its use for scrotal relaxation and comfort is an off-label application.
XPand Flow™ — penile Botox for blood flow and function
Botulinum toxin is FDA-approved for specific neuromuscular conditions. Its application for penile blood flow and erectile function support is an off-label use.
XPand Optimize™ — testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)
XPand Optimize involves FDA-approved testosterone formulations used within their approved indications for the treatment of low testosterone (hypogonadism), subject to physician evaluation and clinical guidelines.
Dr. Adajar will discuss the off-label nature of applicable treatments, the supporting clinical rationale, and all relevant risks, benefits, and alternatives during your consultation. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before consenting to any procedure.
No Guarantees of Outcomes
Individual results vary. The outcome of any procedure depends on factors including, but not limited to, individual anatomy, health status, adherence to post-procedure care instructions, and other variables outside of any provider's control. Before-and-after photography, patient testimonials, and case descriptions on this website represent individual patient experiences and are not a guarantee of results for any prospective patient.
No outcome, result, or level of satisfaction is guaranteed or implied. Photographs and imagery shown are representative of results achieved for individual patients under specific conditions. They are not a promise that any other patient will achieve the same or similar results.
Risks and Informed Consent
All medical and aesthetic procedures carry potential risks and side effects. During your consultation, Dr. Adajar will provide a thorough review of the procedure you are considering, including known risks, potential complications, alternatives, and what to expect during recovery. Proceeding with any treatment requires your informed, written consent.
